Caminosoft HSM Manager

Caminosoft HSM manager runs on Netware 4, 5 and 6 and with GroupWise to archive and manage both file and email data.

Files are selected on an age basis and transferred across to an online or near line storage device either on a Netware server, or on a Windows server.

By sorting the files by date since created the files are migrated from the primary storage device to a near-line optical library (or a NAS device for forward migration to a tape or DVD library, or even to TSM). The remaining file stub then links the original file from the server volume to the near line storage device, removing the main weight from the Netware server to the archive server.

The user sees the file they are accessing in exactly the same location as they saved it in, access is as though the file has never moved, only a slight delay from the storage device.

For GroupWise archiving, email of under 2KB are held in a single file on the Netware server, and are not archived (unless there has been no activity for a long period of time) emails larger than 2KB are stored as individual files and can therefore be archived in the normal manner.
