| Legato Email Xtender Archive (EXA) The first requirement
most IS/Email managers have is the ever increasing volume and size of emails entering
and leaving their organisation. This coupled with users inherent desire not to
manage their emails leads to large and often un-manageable email servers, be that
Exchange or Notes. Email Archive Extender from Legato overcomes
this problem by first of all copying the entire Exchange or Notes message store
to a dedicated archive server, from here, a second flag can be set, which will
then remove attachments from the email server and put a link, or short cut to
the attachment on the archive server. By the installation of some
custom forms the icon for the archived email in outlook changes to indicate to
the user that the attachment has been archived. Access is simply
by opening the email, which then calls the attachment back to the email server
and then to the user. A tertiary function of the EXA product is
the ability automatically delete old emails from the system. This can be performed
automatically when an email is say 3 years old. Administrators can
log onto an email account and search on a users account for all deleted (either
automatically, or by the user) emails [assuming they had been archived prior to
deletion] and then restore the relevant emails to that users mail account.
In addition integration with Legato DiskXtender solutions means that your
archive server will not run out of space before your email server by deploying
NAS, SAN, tape, or optical storage as the back end solution. Click
