G-Series 5.25" MO Automation

The New Standard in 5.25" Optical Storage Automation

Using Magneto Optical

Magneto Optical storage technology has a long history of providing cost-effective, highly reliable data storage for mission critical business applications. Optical storage is typically used for file-based access and

archiving where corporate standards and government regulations require the long-term storage of important data. Magneto Optical technology is ideally suited for these environments because it offers

high storage capacities, very quick access times and both WORM and rewritable media formats. Only optical media can provide the 30+ year data storage life and automated management demanded by

government and industry for storing electronic records, scanned documents, high resolution images, emails, voice and video files. Magneto Optical storage solutions are commonly used in Banking,

Insurance, Medical, Telecommunications, Government Records Management, Call Centres and Public Utilities.

5.25-inch Magneto Optical Technology

Plasmon’s 5.25-inch magneto optical libraries are an ideal storage solution for data-intensive applications requiring near-line access speeds around the clock. Utilising 9.1GB magneto optical drive technology these libraries offer greater capacity, better data availability and increased reliability over competing optical

technologies. The technology is best suited for fast and reliable data access, data archiving and multi-user network environments – especially if a WORM solution is needed. WORM media is unalterable and rated to last 30 years or more, making it the technology of choice for long-term data archival.

Plasmon 5.25-inch Magneto Optical libraries

Plasmon’s 5.25-inch magneto optical libraries offer a range of options with disk slot counts from 20 to 638 storing from 182GB to 5.8TB respectively. Easy field expansion provides significant increases in data capacity to protect your technology investment. Plasmon offers the industry’s widest range of products with patented robotics and high-performance drive technology. Plus, forward and backward media compatibility allows you to easily integrate a Plasmon library into your existing operation.

Plasmon Entry Level libraries

The M20, M32 and M52 range from 182GB to 473GB, the M20 and M32 have single pickers and the M52 has a dual picker, for high performance media exchange. All models have closed loop cooling with no air being drawn into the cabinet; drastically reducing dust contamination. The M52 has an MSBF (Mean Swaps Between Failure) rate of up to 2,800,000 complete disk exchange times as low as 4.3 seconds and sustained transfer rates of up to 6MB per second enabling the user to manage increasing data-flow demand quickly and cost-effectively, giving absolute peace of mind.

Plasmon Mid-size and Enterprise libraries

The mid-size and enterprise 5.25-inch magneto optical libraries utilise state-of-the-art technology to provide features and functionality enhancements that set a new standard for system reliability, availability and performance.

Standard

Robotics Auto-Calibration automatically aligns the robotics for reduced wear of mechanical and electrical components, reduced contamination within the library and elimination of complex manual adjustments.

Hot Swappable Drives allows the library to remain on-line and fully functional should a drive need replacing.

Open/Closed Loop Cooling exhausts electronics heat from the library and controls the media air temperature without introducing contaminants to drive/media system for superior data integrity.

10-Slot Bulk Magazines allows fast and easy import to and export of media from the library one to ten pieces at a time. Available in G164 and above.

Options

Redundant Power Supplies guarantees unimpeded supply of power to the library and smooth fail-over if a power supply should fail. Available in G164 and above.

Bar Code Scanner provides state-of-the-art bar code technology to manage media inventory for both internal and external data archival.

Remote library Management allows the remote query of a library’s status via a Web browser to further enhance library availability and management.
