Each U-Match Biometric mouse attachs to your computer via a comms port from this port data for the operation of the mouse is passed, as well as the scanner technology for the thumbprint recognition system.
Each mouse is supplied with software to replace the standard Windows logon screen, allowing up to 6 users to be configured per workstation for individual access to the computer or network.
Optional software allows a workstation to be locked, and for individual files, applications or sub-directories to be locked preventing access by anyone other than the authorised users.
In the future a USB version will also be available, together with a standalone biometric scanner without the mouse function.
A 500 byte map of your thumb is stored and 26 points need to be matched in order that access can be granted to your computer system.
In a UK Court of Law 14 or 15 points must be matched.
The optical scanner built into the mouse ensures a neat, ergonomic solution taking no more space on your desktop
